There’s something deliciously decadent about stepping into a hidden, clandestine world while the rest of Paris is bathed in ordinary daylight. I often get asked where to party in Paris?
Sunshine is out on a cold November day, people are sipping espressos on café terraces, and yet here we are, having slipped through an unmarked door into pure, unapologetic indulgence, between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
A legendary fetish club
Exceptional place is Les Gouters, a legendary fetish club tucked away in the heart of the city. By night it’s a playground for the debauched swinging crowd, dark rooms, slings, glory holes, poles, cubicles, the works, but on Friday afternoons it transforms into a relaxed, hedonistic fetish/BDSM salon where time slows down and pleasure is the only agenda. Consistently, a weekly afternoon event (often with a playful little show) is hosted by the extraordinary Ness Harper, a true maestro of the single-tail whip. Watching her dance with that bullwhip is mesmerising; every crack precise, sensual, and breathtaking. The marks she leaves are crimson love letters on willing skin. It was here, spellbound by her skill, that I bought my very first single-tail from one of the occasional pop-up stalls she organises. One demonstration from Ness and I was hooked; I had to learn.
