Saying Thank You

The art of saying thank you and why it's important. An attitude of gratitude changed my life. Being rich in mind, body, and pocket!

What prompted me to think of this subject was my recent Lifetime Achievement Award from the UK Awards Fetish Awards and how grateful I am to have been awarded it, also to have been on the scene for 36 years, also how much I love my career span...well, the list goes on. Something that I noticed was, on my Facebook Club Rub account I got loads of congratulations and thanks. However, I've done way more than just Club Rub. Clubbers are very grateful people.

We can all think that, just being there is enough, a quick nod of the head will do, a quick thanks is OK. Seriously, you are missing a trick by not elevating yourself to the status of well mannered.

Saying Thank You

Why it's Important and elegant to say thank you more often

Acknowledges Effort and Kindness: Saying "thank you" recognises the time, energy, or resources someone has put into something, whether it's a small favour, an event, gift or a significant act. It shows appreciation and validates their efforts.

Strengthens Relationships: Expressing gratitude can fortify personal and professional relationships, or make new ones. It creates a positive feedback where people feel valued, leading to more mutual respect.

Promotes Positive Emotions: Both giving and receiving thanks can boost the mood. It's linked to increased happiness and reduced depression, contributing to mental health.

Encourages Reciprocity: When people feel appreciated, they are often more likely to continue or repeat their kind actions. This can build a culture of kindness and community is built.

Enhances Self-worth: For the person partaking it can affirm their self value, manners, competence, self-esteem and confidence.

Cultural and Social Norms: In many cultures, gratitude is not just polite; it's expected. It's sadly lacking in today entitled generation.

Saying Thank You

The art of expressing thanks

Sincerity: The most crucial aspect is that your gratitude feels genuine. People can usually sense when a thank you is heartfelt versus when it's perfunctory.

Specificity: Rather than a generic "thank you," specifying what you're thankful for can make the acknowledgment more meaningful. For example, "Thank you for staying late to help me finish the project," adds depth to your appreciation.

Timing: Ideally, express your thanks soon after the act of kindness. However, late gratitude is better than none at all.

Thank You

Method of delivering or saying thank you

Verbally: A direct, personal thank you can be very powerful. Remembered by all concerned even those looking on.

Written: A thank-you note, email, or card, or social media post can have a lasting impact, especially informal or professional contexts.

Actions: Sometimes, actions speak louder than words. Returning a favour can be a profound way to show gratitude.

Body Language: Accompany your words with appropriate non-verbal cues like eye contact, a smile, or a handshake, which can amplify the message.

Frequency: Don't hesitate to say thank you often. Gratitude shouldn't be reserved only for grand gestures, but also for everyday acts of kindnesses. In fact, for 2025 it will be practicing what I preach by reaching out more, being generous and showing how much I appreciate those I know, and don't know.

The art of saying thank you lies in its power

In essence, the art of saying thank you lies in understanding its power to transform ordinary interactions into meaningful connections. It's an acknowledgment that not only benefits the receiver but also enriches the giver's life with positivity and appreciation.

In conclusion, make it a daily practice to use your voice, mobile texts and social media platforms to message half a dozen people every day, and watch your life change. Thank me later. The meaning of life is connections.
