Interestingly, the drawing room originated in the sixteenth century and was called the withdrawing room. Over time the term was shortened to drawing room, which I use today. Join me in my drawing room for a chat over tea or a glass of alcohol?
Interior designer is a passion, and my drawing room is decorated to show off my personality and opulence. Being more formal in nature, drawing rooms reflect this in their decor. Luxurious fabrics, art, and quality furniture are part of my decor. The sofa, chair and pouf are Duresta from John Lewis.

Moreover, drawing rooms have evolved, they used to be the room they withdrew to after dinner, but their purpose today is for entertaining guests, or for celebrating special occasions like Christmas and birthdays. It helps having a bar! Most people have a living room, as the TV is in there and they spend most of the time in this one room.
Prized possessions are my mothers' engraved red wine glasses. Plus it's another area to display my growing art collection. Below my new piece from Sky Arts winner Portrait Artist of the Year 2013 Christian Hook.
Therefore, my favourite winter choice is my office/changing room/library/snug is my living room, whilst it's only half the size of the drawing room, it is very cosy and EVERYTHING is to-hand!
Books everywhere in the house
Tassels everywhere! I have a fascination for them and I would say there are so many now, that it's a collection. Piles of coffee table books on fashion designers, travel, art and Moroccan interiors...which I think is reflected in my decoration.

Huge windows has the house is nearly 200 years old. The ceiling to floor sash windows have bars on them but one has been hinged to allow for access to my roof terrace which is perfct in the summer, as it feels like another room...table, chairs, umbrella and pot plants.
Showstopper...is my bar
Pieces de resistance is my 1950's vintage home bar, which I covered in foam wadding and leopard-spot fabric. In fact, it's the same fabric that is on the ceiling. Always fully stocked so that I can offer an aperitif, cocktail or shot to my guests.
In conclusion, like any true Cancerian I'm very house proud. Not only is it decorated to perfection, but it's tidy and clean.
